The pantry is where kitchen dreams go to die — or where they get organized. If yours is a deep dark cabinet where cans go to expire, here’s what custom pantry cabinetry costs in Portland.
The short answer
Most custom pantries we build land between $2,500 and $12,000, installed. A pull-out pantry wall sits at the low end. A full walk-in pantry with shelving on three walls lands at the top.
What drives the price
Type. Reach-in pantry cabinets are the simplest. Pull-out tall pantries cost more (hardware isn’t cheap). Walk-in pantries are the biggest project — the most material, the most shop time.
Shelving. Adjustable shelving is standard. Roll-out trays behind doors — so you can actually reach the back — add cost and are worth every penny.
Doors. A pantry with doors that close changes the whole kitchen. Glass-front uppers, pocket doors, barn-style sliders — each has a price.
Material and finish. Painted maple is the value pick. Match your kitchen’s wood and finish if you want it to look like it was always there.
What a typical project looks like
A common one: a 6-foot pantry wall with roll-out trays, adjustable shelving above, and doors that match the kitchen. Painted. That usually lands around $4,000–$6,000, designed, built, finished, and installed.
A walk-in pantry — shelving on three walls of a 6×8 closet — usually lands around $8,000–$12,000.
Why custom
Pantry openings in Portland houses are never standard. They’re the closet under the stairs, the dead space next to the fridge, the wall that’s 5 feet 9 inches. Custom fills it exactly, and roll-outs mean nothing disappears into the back.
How long it takes
Our standard lead time is 4–6 weeks from approved drawings. Most pantries install in a day.
