Commissioning custom cabinets is a big investment — and it shouldn’t feel like a leap of faith. At Foundry Cabinet Co. in Portland, Oregon, every project follows the same clear five-step process, so you always know what’s happening, what comes next, and exactly when your cabinets will be ready.
Step 1: Free Consultation
Every project starts with a conversation — free, with no pressure and no obligation. We talk through the scope of your project, your goals for the space, and your investment level, so we can tell you honestly whether custom cabinetry is the right fit and what budget range makes sense. You’ll get straight answers about timelines, materials, and possibilities before you spend a dollar.
Step 2: Design & Detailed Estimate
Once we understand your project, we take precise measurements and develop your design using CabinetSense shop drawings and SketchUp models. You receive an itemized, detailed estimate — not a vague lump sum — plus a 3D visualization of your design before anything is built. Revisions happen on screen, where changes are cheap, so what we build matches what you approved.
Step 3: Build
After you approve the drawings, your cabinets are cut on our in-house AES CNC router and built, finished, and assembled right here in our Portland shop by our own crew. Because everything happens under one roof, we control tolerances, finish quality, and scheduling directly — no outsourcing, no middlemen, no finger-pointing.
Step 4: Install
Our own installation crew — not subcontractors — delivers and installs your cabinets with careful attention to fit and finish. The people who built your cabinets are accountable for how they land in your home, which means clean lines, tight joints, and one point of contact if anything needs attention.
Step 5: Walkthrough & Warranty
When installation is complete, we do a final walkthrough with you to make sure every detail meets your expectations. And every project is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty against manufacturing defects — if something we built fails because of how it was made, we make it right.
Typical Timeline
Our typical lead time is 4–6 weeks from approved drawings. Design, revisions, and approvals happen first; once you sign off on the final drawings, the clock starts on fabrication and installation. We’ll give you a realistic schedule up front and keep you updated along the way.
